The ParishThe parish of Llaniestyn lies in the extreme east of the island of Anglesey roughly 3 miles north of the coastal town of Beaumaris. Llaniestyn lies roughly a similar distance west of the B5109 road which leads northeastwards from Beaumaris to Llangoed. Llaniestyn is a tiny place, so much so that it doesn't even merit a place-name on today's Ordnance Survey maps being just an eastward extension from the village of Llanddona. A group of farms surround the church and the rest is fields. Despite its rural location it is, in fact, closer to the village of Llanddona than that village's own church which sits on the shores of Red Wharf Bay (Traeth Coch). Like much of the island a mixed farming regime would have been in place with pastures and arable fields in almost equal measure. Llaniestyn is drained eastwards by small streams the short distance to the Irish Sea arriving to the east of Llangoed. Llaniestyn is sited at around 120 metres above the sea whilst land continues to rise westwards to Llanddona at 148 metres. Llaniestyn parish was fairly typically sized for the island, covering roughly 1,700 acres it would have supported a population of close to 250 parishioners. Like most of Wales Llaniestyn is not mentioned in Domesday Book which did not cover the country. |

The quality of these BTs is extremely poor with many years
wholly unreadable. There are missing years too and entries have
been omitted because of lack of legibility. It is also highly
likely that misreads will be present and users are advised to
treat this period with a degree of caution |
