The ParishThe parish of Hannah lies in eastern Lincolnshire close to its North Sea coast. Hannah is located about 3 miles northeast of the large village of Alford and 2 miles southwest of the seaside resort of Sutton on Sea. Hannah is located on a sharp bend in the A1111 road which heads from Alford to Sutton on Sea. Hannah is tiny no more than a scatter of farms and cottages with no defined village as such. Much of the settlement is located on a narrow lane which heads southeastwards from the A road. Hannah parish traditionally included the hamlet of Hagnaby too but even together they were small. This is an extremely low lying area, barely 2 metres above the sea, a mixture of marsh pastures and arable fields under typically big Lincolnshire skies. Hannah parish was small at around 1,000 acres and it supported just under 100 parishioners. There is no specific mention of Hannah in Domesday book. |
