The ParishThe parish of Kettlebaston is situated in south central Suffolk about 3 miles east of the well-known tourist centre and weaving town of Lavenham. The village is sited in lanes to the west of the B1115 and north of the A1141 which links Lavenham with Hadleigh. Kettlebaston is sited on a ridge at quite a height for Suffolk, about 70 metres above sea level, overlooking a tributary of the River Brett. The area is largely arable, a scene of big fields and wide skies dominated by cereals and oil seed. The village is compact and the parish small in scale supporting barely 200 parishioners. Despite its small size Kettlebaston has been around for a long time - it merits a mention in Domesday Book where it supported 3 ploughs. |
