The ParishPinvin is a chapelry, licensed for marriages, within the wider parish of St Andrew, Pershore. Pinvin is located in south central Worcestershire about 2 miles northeast of the market town of Pershore. Pinvin is sited on the B4082 road which heads northwards from Pershore to meet the A422 at Upton Snodbury. Pinvin has grown significantly over recent times with modern developments rendering it almost contiguous with its mother town. At the time of this transcript Pinvin would have been a small rural community engaged largely in mixed agriculture. Pinvin is drained by a tributary of the River Avon, the Piddle Brook, the Avon heads southwestwards just a mile or two away, reaching the Severn and thence the Irish Sea through the Severn Estuary. Pinvin is sited at around 30 metres above the sea and sits in the broad shallow valley of the Avon local heights do not exceed 60 metres. Pinvin's area would have covered a size typical of a small Worcestershire parish, it covered just over 1,000 acres and would have supported a population of around 200 parishioners. There is no specific mention of Pinvin within Domesday Book. |
