The parish of North Barningham is located in north Norfolk about 4 miles south of the seaside resort of Sheringham. North Barningham is a mere hamlet on the winding lane which runs from Gresham to Saxthorpe, there is a scatter of cottages and farms with no clearly defined village as such. North Barningham is built on the slopes of the ridge that rises to become the Cromer-Holt ridge a glacial feature that dominates this part of Norfolk. All hereabouts is dominated by arable agriculture with a mixture of cereals, beet and the ubiquitous oil seed.

St Peter's church lies on the eastern side of the Gresham/Saxthorpe lane at its junction with the lane to Baconsthorpe. The church has had a chequered existance being badly damaged in the 18th century and heavily restored in the late 19th. Under that veneer lies a small church built during the transition from the Decorated style to that of the Perpendicular. Much of the main body being the former and the western tower being of the latter. This places the church in the 13th & 14th centuries typical of most Norfolk churches. One notable feature of the church is the impressive design of a rose window in tile & stone on the nave floor. Nowadays the church is no longer required for worship and is redundant managed by the relevant charities.
