1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Belaugh St Peter |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Belaugh lies in Norfolk's Broadland about
7 miles northeast of the city of Norwich. The parish is a small one tucked
away in a bend of the River Bure midway between the large villages of
Coltishall and Wroxham. Here the Bure performs a classic 'U' shaped meander
and Belaugh occupies the western portion of that loop of land which is
almost enclosed within the meander, accessed down a couple of minor lanes
to the south of the B1354 road that connects Coltishall with Wroxham.
The parish is small, hemmed in by its larger neighbours and consequently
never held a large population who earned their livings from either agriculture
or their activities in the marshes which border the river's course. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of the transcript but continues to include most of the 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MFRO719 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. This film is very recently made and benefits greatly from the improved quality achievable with modern techniques. The images are crisp and clear making for a rather straightforward transcript to prepare. |
