1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Bergh Apton St Peter & St Paul |
Baptisms 1813 to 1877
Bergh Apton parish lies in south-eastern Norfolk, the
village is just south of the A146 Norwich to Lowestoft road and just south-west
of the market toen of Loddon. The village has a number of centres but
the heart of the village is at crossroads of 3 lanes close to the manor.
From here the lanes wiggle and bifurcate down the shallow valley and water-meadows
of the River Chet. The area was intensely agricultural but nowadays most
residents are probably commuters to nearby Norwich. |

The registers for Bergh Apton have only been
deposited up to 1867, these registers are filmed on microfiche 6 & 7
in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office from which the bulk of these
records were transcribed. The fiche are elderly in their filming and the
writing very faded and difficult to read, on many occasions confirmation
was sought by referencing the Bishop's Transcript copy. After 1867 the Bishop's Transcripts are the sole public domain record, the register still being with the church. Unfortunately these Bishop's Transcripts are incomplete, lacking 1872, 1875 & 1878 to 1880 making this transcript an incomplate record. Should the second register ever be deposited and publically available these records will be added at that time. Because of the difficulty in reading some of the entries complete guarantees of accuracy cannot on this occasion be given - however every effort has been made to keep errors to a minimum and it is hoped that any are few in number. |
