The parish of Blofield lies in eastern Norfolk about 7 miles east of the city of Norwich and astride the busy A47 road which crosses the county from west to east. Blofield has grown from a large village into a major suburb of the city almost merging with Brundall in the process. The village centre lies along the former route of the A47, the modern dual-carriageway thankfully bypasses to the north, a rather grand High Street for the village. In the period of this transcript Blofield would have largely depended on arable agriculture and the ancillary trades associated with that, a glance through the occupations also reveals a healthy population of trades especially blacksmiths, carpenters, shoemakers and wheelwrights as well as the publican to quench their thirsts. Nowadays the day time village is often quiet with many working a few miles away in Norwich.

St Andrew & St Peter's church sits on the southern edge of the village, sitting on the southern side of Church Road screened by mature evergreens and a low flint and brick wall. The church is built almost entirely in the Perpendicular style either from the original period or in later authentic restorations. The fine western tower is the centrepiece and certainly dominates the local area being the tallest in the area by far. Documentary evidence dates it to the mid 15th century and much else is of that date too or in the remainder of the same century. Any restorations were sensitive, however most of the windows are much later than the fabric in which they sit. The churchyard is very busy with trees which rather restrict the angles for photography hence the lack of variety in the accompanying shots.
