The New Buckenham Wesleyan
Methodist Circuit was created in 1812 from the Diss Circuit. The area
covered is quite large with the bulk of the entries indicating residence
in the area between Wymondham and the northern border of the Diss Circuit.
However the addresses listed for the congregation spread quite widely
to places such as Hempnall and the villages along the A140 Norwich to
Ipswich road.
These records were transcribed from two deposited registers, the first
deposited with the National Archives in 1837 is a converted standard parish
register and a copy on Microfilm MF1152 was used. The second register,
a standard Wesleyan two-to-a-page register comprised the second deposit
which was filmed on Microfilm MF1602. Whilst the standard of filming was
good it has to be said that that the standard of completion of the registers
was deficient, in particular during the early 1820s. Clearly from the
sequence of entries a number of subsidiary notes had been kept by differing
Ministers and added to the register irregularly. As no records beyond
1858 have been deposited in the public domain these cannot be included
here but will be added should further registers be deposited. It is to
be hoped few errors will have been made in the compilation of this transcript
but, as ever, the accuracy is dependant upon the legibility of the Minister's
hand. |
