Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The Burlingham's are a group of three parishes set either side of the busy main A47 Norwich to Great Yarmouth road, east of the city of Norwich yet west of Acle. St Andrew or North Burlingham covers the north-western part of the 3 parishes and its area lies north of the trunk road. The main village centre is to the east of the grounds of Burlingham House in a network of lanes. St Andrews's church lies to the north of the A47 set back with a pasture-like paddock separating it from the main road. The church is a hoych-potch of Perpendicular and Decorated style features indicating a late 14th, early 15th century origin. A nice feature of the nave is a 'hammerbeam' roof which is certainly impressive. |

These records where transcribed from Microfilm MF741 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Given that this is a relatively old filming the standard of image produced was exceptionally good, with clarity and good conrtast - a tribute to the standard of preservation of the original records. Given that the handwriting was mostly of a good standard too this was a relatively straight-forward transcription and hopefully few errors will have crept in. |
