1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Great Dunham St Andrew |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Great Dunham lies in central Norfolk about
5 miles northeast of the market town of Swaffham and 3 miles north of
the busy A47 which runs east to west across the county. Great Dunham lies
in a maze of lanes in quite an elevated position for Norfolk namely some
85 metres above sea level. The village is compact and built along a north
south lane and a westerly side branch. The surrounding area is resolutely
arable with broad fields of cereals for miles around. |

Two standard 800-entry registers cover the period of the transcript. The first runs to 1864 the second was completed only in the 20th century. Both registers are filmed on Microfilm MF1392 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. This film is one of the more modern attempts and benefits from clean and crisp images. The records began with what is probably the clearest handwriting I've ever seen in a register, sadly that high standard wasn't maintained throughout although it was acceptable. In summary a straightforward transcript to prepare and hopefully few errors will have crept in to its production. |
