1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Felthorpe St Margaret |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Felthorpe is located about 7 miles northwest
of the City of Norwich, Felthorpe is located just west of the B1149 road
which connects Norwich to the large villages of Cawston & Holt. Felthorpe
has its main centre grouped around the main crossroads of lanes and has
expanded in recent times with modern bungalow developments. The proximity
of the village to the city makes it an attractive commuter village. The
village sits upon a poor soil area which has nowadays become much devoted
to forestry, stands of sitka spruce and pine stand where sheep would have
grazed. The landscape is rather flat being between river valleys although
there is a small tributary of the Wensum flowing westwards from the north
of the village. |

Two 800-entry register books cover the period of the transcript, the first is a standard prenumbered volume, the second is numbered by the clerk - keen eyes will spot his numbering error. The books are filmed on Microfiche 5 & 6 and 7 & 8 respectively in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which were used to prepare this transcript. The fiche are rather elderly and lack the clarity of modern filmings, as a consequence there was much reference to the online images at familysearch to achieve a satisfactory transcript. Hopefully few errors will have been committed in doing so. |
