1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Great Fransham All Saints |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Great Fransham lies in central Norfolk roughly
midway between the market towns of East Dereham and Swaffham, about 5
miles west of the former and 5 miles northeast of the latter. Great Fransham
sits just north of the busy A47 road, which crosses Norfolk from west
to east. Great Fransham is not so great in terms of population being little
different in size as compared with its named smaller cousin. Most housing
is concentrated along the lane which heads northwestwards through Great
Fransham towards Great Dunham & Castle Acre and adjacent minor roads.
The village is built on a very level agricultural plain where the mid-Norfolk
plains start to rise towards the chalky ridges of west Norfolk and is
dominated by arable agriculture, wheat, barley and beet as well as oil
seed dominating. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and runs on into the early 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1396 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. The film is quite a modern rendering and benefits from good crisp and clear images. This was, as a consequence, a relatively straightforward piece to prepare. |
