Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Glandford is located in northern Norfolk
about two miles from the port of Blakeney. Glandford is a relatively small
village, just a few houses close to a ford, lying on the narrow lane which
links Blakeney with Holt. The majority of the houses are set on the western
bank of the River Glaven which flows north to reach the North Sea through
Blakeney Harbour. Much of the village is characterised by buildings made
from the local material, rounded beach cobbles of flint. This makes the
village a rather attractive and picturesque place. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and, indeed, continued in use up to the late 20th century, such was the size of Glandford's population. This register is filmed on Microfilm MFRO531 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. The film is obviously, from the closing date of the register, a very recent filming and benefits from the higher quality achievable in recent times. As a result this was a relatively easy and straightforward transcript to prepare. |
