1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Guestwick St Peter |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Guestwick lies in the northeastern portion
of central Norfolk. Guestwick lies in a large area of Norfolk devoid of
any significant numbered roads, it sits about 3 miles northwest of the
large village of Reepham and about 7 miles southeast of the market town
of Fakenham. Guestwick is a relatively small place with no distinct village
as such merely a scatter of farms and cottages cross the landscape. The
landscape is largely flat or at best gently rolling and dominated by arable
farming. Guestwick and the surrounding area were local hotbeds for nonconformism
and there were several sects operating in the area so if the entry you
seek is missing from here then one should check those appropriate other
congregations when completed. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of this transcript and runs onwards to completion in 1965. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF1628 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. This film is a relatively modern one and benefits greatly from the improved quality achieved in the recent filmings. The clerical standard is at times weak and there is a single entry in which the baptism date is not recorded and also an entry where the birth date is later than the apparent baptism. |
