Baptisms 1813 to 1857
The parish of Hapton lies in southern Norfolk in
the valley of the River Tas about mid-way between Norwich and
the market town of Diss. The parish carries the main Norwich to
London railway line and is west of the A140 road to Ipswich. The
village is compact and occupies a slightly higher ridge of land
where a number of streams join the River Tas. All around is
richly agricultural land part of Britain's bread-basket. |

This transcript was initially prepared
from the Bishops' Transcripts which were markedly deficient.
Thankfully the baptismal register for the period has since been
deposited at Norfolk Record Office and the transcript has been
completed and corrected for the many discrepancies between the BTs
and the original register book. |
