1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Honingham St Andrew |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Honingham lies west of the city of Norwich,
adjacent to the busy A47 which crosses the county from Great Yarmouth
to King's Lynn and beyond. The village is roughly 8 miles west of the
city in the valley of the River Tud, a tributary of the Wensum. The village
of Honingham, once bisected by the A47 now lies to the south of a realigned
road. From a farming village at the time of this transcript it is now
a busy commuter settlement with attractive properties in close proximity
to the employment of the city. The negative aspect of this growth is the
long queues of traffic for morning and evening rush-hours. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and indeed continues beyond that date until 1901. This register is a relatively recent deposit with the Norfolk Record Office and is filmed on Microfilm MF1675 in their collection and from which this transcript was prepared. The Microfilm is of excellent quality as reflects modern filming standards and has crisp and clear images. Given the quality of this film this was a straightforward transcript to prepare although, as always, there are caveats regarding the quality of clerical handwriting. Hopefully few errors will have crept into the production. |
