1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Houghton on the Hill St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Houghton on the Hill parish is a remnant reflecting one
of Norfolk's lost mediaeval villages. It is believed the original settlement
become untenable following the depredations of the plague years and the
village which supported St Mary's church was abandoned. The only inhabitants
of the parish reside at a handful of scattered farmhouses. The parish
lies in central Norfolk a few miles to the south-east of the market town
of Swaffham and south of the main east-west A47. |

These records were transcribed from Microfilm MF591 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. The entries were generally clear with good contrast. Given the good filming and the generally good standard of writing there should be few errors in this transcription. |
