Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Hunworth sits in North-eastern Norfolk about
2 miles south-west of the small town of Holt. The village is a straggle
along the valley of the River Glaven with cottages, shops and pub notably
facing onto the village green. Most of the settlement is to the north-west
of the lane which links Holt with the village of Briston. The village
contains an interesting archaeological feature in the presence of Hunworth
"Castle" this is believed to be a Norman feature. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers the period of the transcript and indeed continues almost to the end of the 20th Century. This register is a relatively recent deposit and is filmed on Microfilm MF/RO713 in the collection of the Norfolk Record office and from which this transcript was prepared. The film is an excellent example of the quality of image now being attained with clear & crisp images allowing the original to be clearly seen. Subject to the caveat of occasional poor writing this was in consequence a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept in to its production. |
