1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Kenninghall Particular Baptist |
Births 1813 to 1837
The Particular Baptists became established in Kenninghall from 1799 as an offshoot of the Diss sect, despite this assertion from the Wilcox volume of Parish Registers in Norfolk this register in fact commences in 1795. A chapel to hold the worshippers was apparently established just prior to the commencement of the project period (in 1807). Only a single register survives for the congregation a register which terminates in 1837 (presumably as part of the general surrenders of nonconformist registers at that date) but was deposited with the Norfolk Record Office (rather than the National Archives which was the norm). This register is a preprinted register with 8 entries across a double page. It is not known what records were kept beyond that date but none survive as viewable public records. The register is filmed on Microfilm MF1619 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office, this film is a modern filming with all of the benefits that accrues, however it needs to be as the original is very faded and even with this quality film it is hard to read in places. |
