1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Methwold Wesleyan Circuit |
Baptisms 1853 to 1880
There has been a Wesleyan presence in the Fenland village of Methwold since the late 18th century as confirmed by scattered membership lists dating back as far as 1778. In 1872 a circuit based on Methwold was formed from the pre-existing Thetford Circuit this covered much of Fenland Norfolk and extended to parts of adjacent Suffolk and Cambridgeshire. Registers, however, do not appear to fit to this historical pattern; the Norfolk Record Office has registers deposited covering 1843 to 1925. The period of this transcript is covered by the microfilmed copy on Microfilm MF1725 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. Both registers are standard Wesleyan books with 4 entries to a page. The handwriting of these entries was difficult at times and it is perfectly possible mis-reads may have occurred. |
