Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of St Martin at Palace Plain lies in the centre
of the mediaeval city of Norwich. The parish is just south of the River
Wensum and covers a small area to the north of the Cathedral Close. Palace
Plain leads from the Saxon Market Place of Tombland away to the old city
walls along the line of Barrack Street. The area is a mixture of residential,
public buildings and businesses. |

There are two registers covered by the period of this transcript, a 1600-entry book and a stub of a second book. Both registers are filmed on Microfiche 15 through to 19 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. Despite the rather elderly condition of these fiche the images were largely acceptable if not to today's standards. A caveat must be added given the variable standard of handwriting found in these registers and these did prove difficult at times. Hopefully, however, few errors will have crept into the production of this transcript. |
