1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Norwich St Peter Hungate |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of St Peter Hungate lies in the heart of Mediaeval
Norwich. A tiny area of the ancient walled city, hemmed in by the parish
of St Clement, St George Tombland, St Michael at Plea and St Andrews,
this parish had a relatively small population as a result. Its situation,
however, covers the most attractive parts of old Norwich with the iconic
Elm Hill running in an ankle-turning run of cobbles as its main artery.

The records which form the basis of this transcript were filmed on Microfiche 6 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. In common with most Norwich City films this is a rather elderly fiche which does not carry the quality of image that more recent filmings achieve. Despite this the images were in the most part sufficient to enable the writing to be determine so the only caveat is the usual warning regarding the standard of hand-writing. It is hoped that this has not resulted in too many errors creeping in to the transcript. |
