1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Pentney St Mary Magdalen |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Pentney lies in western Norfolk, to the
east of the fishing port of King's Lynn and just south of the main A47
road which connects that port with the city of Norwich. The village is
compact and lies along a ridge which separates the plain of the River
Nar valley from that of one of its tributaries. Pentney is thus low-lying,
barely 10 meters above sea level but on a dry ridge keeping its footings
dry. |

The two registers which make up this transcript are standard 800-entry books which have been filmed on Microfiche 4 to 6 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. These fiche are rather elderly in their filming and reflect the standards of that era, they are faint and lack good contrast. However, thanks to the good state of preservation of the originals not too many difficulties were experienced in reading the entries. This was a fairly straightforward transcript to prepare and subject to the usual warnings regarding handwriting it is hoped few errors have crept into its compilation. |
