Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Reepham lies in east-central Norfolk about
12 miles northwest of the city of Norwich. Reepham is a small market town
sitting on the B1145 road which connects Aylsham though to the Norwich
to Fakenham Road. Whilst Reepham has never grown to the size of some of
Norfolk's market towns it was nevertheless an important local market until
recent times and is still a focal point for shops, inns and local businesses.
Reepham saw a small surge in growth with the coming of the Midland &
Great Northern Railway where it formed a junction of Aylsham & Norwich
branches but this was closed by the Beching cuts and now both are footpaths.
Reepham is fairly compact and has a notable centre where the B1145 performs
a right angled bend and triangular spaces widen the narrow streets. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of this transcript. The first runs to 1861, the second is completed in 1902. The two register are filmed on Microfiche 4 to 6 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office but superior imagery is available to view on the free web site Familysearch and these were used to prepare this transcript. There are a few records leading to grumbles about handwriting and some fading but not to the detriment of readability, a straightforward piece to prepare. |
