Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Ridlington parish is situated in the north-east of Norfolk,
just inland from the North Sea coast. The parish is a scattering of houses
and farms centred around a crossroads on the minor road from North Walsham
to Happisburgh. The parish is unusual in that, although it is primarily
an inland parish, a small spur of the parish extends through to embrace
a short section of foreshore between Bacton and Walcott. The dearth of
maritime occupations in the fathers of the parish show, however, the agricultural
focus of the village. |

These records were transcribed from Microfilm MF1841 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. This is a very recent filming and is of superb clarity and rendition. As the images were clear and very readable this was a comparatively easy transcript to prepare, the standard of handwriting as usual is the only impediment to complete accuracy. |
