Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Saxlingham Nethergate lies in the southern
part of Norfolk about 7 miles due south of the city of Norwich. The village
is set just of the A140 road which links Norwich to Ipswich and lies in
a tributary of the Tas river which drains much of this agricultural area.
The village is built in a long straggle along a busy lane which links
the commuter villages of the Tas valley to the city, there are particular
concentrations around the junctions of that lane with the many tiny country
lanes which crisscross the area. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of the transcript, the second continues beyond to the early 20th century. Both registers are filmed on Microfilm MF697 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and from which this transcript was prepared. The films are not from the newest batch but are adequate to the task - as a result this was a straightforward transcript to prepare and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept into its production. |
