Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Snetterton lies in central southern Norfolk
about 5 miles southwest of the market town of Attleborough. Snetterton
lies just north of the A11 road which links Norwich to London. There is
not really much of village centre to Snetterton, a grouping of cottages
and farms at North End (close to the junction of the Shropham to Old Buckenham
lane) and others by the church and appropriately enough at South End about
a miles south of the other cluster. Snetterton sits on the eastern banks
up the upper reaches of the River Thet here flowing southwards towards
Thetford. Snetterton's main claim to fame these days is across the A11,
a World War II airfield which is one of England's more popular Motor Racing
circuits. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of the transcript but runs on to the 1930s. This register is filmed on Microfiche 4 & 5 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office and these fiches, together with online images at Familysearch, were used to prepare this transcript. The images on the rather elderly fiche are less than adequate, fortunately the online images are better and be digitally enhanced to make them more readable. As a consequence this was a straightforward transcript to prepare and hopefully few errors will have crept in to its production. |
