1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Little Snoring St Andrew |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Little Snoring lies in northern Norfolk
about 2 miles northeast of the market town Fakenham. The village lies
just north of the A148 road which links Fakenham most of the housing being
along the lane that runs from that road to the pilgrim site of Walsingham.
Little Snoring sits on a broad agricultural plateau, a fact taken advantage
of in World War II when an airfield was built just northeast of the village.
This still remains as a light aircraft runway. Little Snoring is just
one of a pair of settlements with its larger neighbour which barely justifies
its tag of "Great" these days as modern homes have expanded
the lesser village due to its proximity to the main road. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of the transcript but continues to finish in the early 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MF584 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. The images quality and handwriting are both pretty good and as a result this was straightforward to prepare, hopefully few errors will have been committed in the preparation. |
