Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Stibbard lies in north central Norfolk and
is situated about 4 miles southeast of the market town of Fakenham. Stibbard
is a medium sized village sitting on a lane about a half mile north of
the A1067 road which connects Fakenham with the city of Norwich. Stibbard
sits on a low ridge of land to the north of the Wensum valley, a number
of small feeder brooks draining southwards to meet that rover. The area
around Stibbard is intensively arable with large and open fields of cereal,
oil seed and beet dominating the landscape, at the time of this transcript
the situation would have been slightly different with more of a mixed
farming regime and more animals in the fields. |

Two standard 800-entry register books cover the period of this transcript, the first running from 1813 to 1865, the second continuing to finish in the latter part of the 20th century. These registers are filmed on Microfiche 3 - 5 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office. However, digital images of these register are freely available to view on Familysearch and they are of better quality than the fiche so were used on this occasion to complete this transcript. |
