Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Stoke Ferry, sitting astride the main A road between King's Lynn and Thetford, evolved as a ferry crossing over the river Wissey, nowadays bridged. The village is substantial and from the list of occupations below can clearly be seen to be more than just an agricultural settlement. All Saints Church was largely rebuilt in 1848 and was undergoing further repair during my visit. The tower fell as long ago as 1578, |
