1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Surlingham St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
Surlingham parish is situated to the east of the city
of Norwich in the bend of a large northward meander of the River Yare.
The village is built on the higher ground above the flood plain but has
extensive stretches of wet fen and carr within the parish as well as a
substantial reach of the Yare. These wetter areas are now preserved as
widlife reserves largely at the instigation of Ted Ellis a resident in
the village. |

These records were transcribed from microfiche
7 & 8 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. The fiche represent
an old filming and image quality was commensurately poor in places with
a faded and blotchy original. Despite these difficulties the majority of
the entries were legible and only a handful needed confirmation by reference
to the BT series. Subject to the usually caveats regarding hand-writing this transcript should be accurate and it is to be hoped few errors will have crept in through transcriptions and typographical errors. |
