1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Swanton Abbott Wesleyan Circuit |
Baptisms 1824 to 1837
The Wesleyan Circuit based around the small village of Swanton Abbott, just south-west of the market town of North Walsham, was founded in 1824 from the larger Aylsham Circuit to reflect an area with a long tradition of support for the Wesleyan cause. A chapel for the members was erected in 1827. The circuit was only a temporary one as membership grew and subsided it was eventually subsumed into the surrounding larger circuits. Just a single ledger was deposited with The National Archive as a result of legislation in 1837, it is from the Norfolk Record Office's filmed copy (on Microfilm MF1156) that this transcript is prepared. The filming is of adequate quality although the standard of hand-writing is wanting on occasion this was a small and straightforward transcript to prepare. |
