Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Thompson lies in western Central Norfolk
about 10 miles north-east of the market town of Thetford. The village
lies just west of the A1075 which links Thetford with Watton. Thompson
lies just east of the ancient Peddars Way trackway, now a long-distance
trail. The parish is nowadays rather truncated to the west by the British
Army's STANTA training area. This large area of Breckland was commandeered
during World War II and never returned. |

The parish has deposited a single register book for the period of the transcript, this covers 1813 to 1865 and is filmed on Microfilm MF1646 in collection of the Norfolk Record Office. The numbering sequence is continued into another register but this is retained by the parish, as a consequence the transcript has been covered by use of the Bishops Transcripts. Unfortunately the BTs are incomplete with 1875 & 1880 missing as a result this transcript is incomplete. The film quality for the first register is of an excellent standard which crisp, clear images, the standard of the BTs is less good but adequate making this a relatively straightforward transcript to prepare. Should the second register eventually make its way into the public domain the missing entries will be added and the BT derived content rechecked. |
