1813 to 1880 Baptism Project Tunstead St Mary |
Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Tunstead lies in eastern Norfolk, the village
is about 8 miles northeast of the city of Norwich. Tunstead lies just
northeast of the valley of the River Bure on flattish agricultural land
crossed by the Norwich to Sheringham railway. The village is strung out
and straggly with no real centre, a long strip of housing over a mile
long predominates along the lane which connects Wroxham to Scottow. |

The period of the project is covered by two standard 800-entry register books, the first finishing in 1868, the second continues to modern times. Both register were early deposits and are filmed on Microfiche 5 to 7 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office. Sadly these fiche are rather elderly with poor quality images making for a difficult read. There was frequent reference to the Bishops Transcripts in order to determine some entries making for a slow piece of work. Hopefully, however, a clear enough image was obtained to minimise misreads and any errors contained are few. |
