Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Weston Longville lies in central
Norfolk to the north-west of the City of Norwich. The parish
lies south of the River Wensum and the A1067 which links Norwich
to Fakenham. The village lies on the top of a brisk climb from
the Wensum valley some 100 feet above the river. Weston
Longville is famous for being the home of Parson Woodforde who
wrote his evocative diary describing everyday life in the
village. Nowadays the village is largely commuter-land with the
majority taking a daily journey to nearby Norwich. |

Most of the records in this transcript were from a single baptismal register which is filmed on Microfiche 6 & 7 in the collection of the Norfolk Record Office, the remaining few records to complete come from an undeposited register and were drawn from the Bishop's Transcripts. In common with most older film the fiche for all of this transcript were poor and faint and on occasion reference was made to Bishop's Transcripts to confirm records which were too badly faded to read. Despite this the standard of handwriting was good and this was a relatively straightforward transcript to prepare. It is to hoped few errors will have crept into its preparation. |
