Baptisms 1813 to 1880
The parish of Wramplingham lies in eastern central Norfolk
about 3 miles northeast of the market town of Wymondham. Wramplingham
is a small village lying on the southern banks of the River Yare's small
tributary, the Tiffey. Most of the properties in Wramplingham lie along
its single narrow lane (Wymondham Road) and close to the Tiffey. As with
most of this area Wramplingham would have been an arable agricultural
settlement albeit the river provided sufficient power to operate a large
flour mill (the power was augmented by steam by all accounts). A relatively
small parish, covering less than 1000 acres Wramplingham was never a large
village and today is just another of Norfolk's sleepy rural settlements. |

A single standard 800-entry register book covers not only the period of this transcript but also runs onwards to completion in the late 20th century. This register is filmed on Microfilm MFRO660 in the collection of Norfolk Record Office which was used to prepare this transcript. The film is a recent production and benefits from the improved techniques available nowadays having crisp and contrasting images and making for a straightforward piece to prepare. |
