The ParishThe parish of Athelington lies in the north of Central Suffolk, Athelington is about 6 miles southeast of the market town of Eye and a couple of miles southwest of the large village of Stradbroke. The parish small in extant, less than 500 acres, and also small in population with just over 100 parishioners. The parish lies at about 50 metres above sea level on a broad arable plain crisscrossed by lanes - there is no defined village for the parish merely a scatter of farms and cottages. Athelington was not mentioned specifically in Domesday Book. |
